The
Lion of Judah Church
Frank L. Gibson III, Pastor and Founder
Statement
of Purpose
1.
We exist to worship Jesus Christ
(John 4:21-24; Revelations 5:11-12)
The Lion of Judah Church (LOJ) exists to worship the true and living
God who has revealed himself through Jesus Christ. Worship is not
entertainment. Rather it is the declaring the ultimate worth of
God. Worship is our adoring response to God's mercies.
Worship
is characterized by praise, prayer, preaching, giving of tithes
and offerings, art, dance, ordinances and other ways the human soul
expresses adoration. It should include preparation (Exodus 19:10-11),
participation (Psalms 34:1-3), and practice (Isaiah 6:1-8).
2.
We exist to lead the lost to Jesus Christ
(Luke 15:1-24; Luke 19:1-9)
These passages allow us to see the high priority Jesus has for lost
people. To be lost means not to have Jesus as Lord of your life.
Humans are lost, not God. God is the seeker, humans are the sought.
God uses the church to introduce the Savior to the lost.
3.
We exist to develop the saved
(Matthew 28:19-20; Ephesians 4:11-12)
Jesus Christ commissioned his believers to teach others. As such.
LOJCBC exists to mature and nurture its members in the Word of God.
4.
We exist to provide fellowship
(Matthew 25:31-46; Romans 15:1; Galatians 6:1-2; Hebrews 10:24-25)
Fellowship
is sharing the trials of others. We will be judged on how we respond
to the least among us. We must come in contact with other church
members.
5.
We exist to transform society (Matthew
5:13-16)
The church is the light of the world (Matthew 5:14)
The church is the salt of the earth (Matthew 5:13)
The church is the yeast in the dough (Matthew 13:33)
The church is the body of Christ (Ephesians 1:22-23)
